Welcome to CIE 2016
Letter of Invitation
Dear Colleagues,
It is our pleasure to invite you to be part of the CIE 2016 Lighting Quality and Energy Efficiency Conference, which will be held in the city of Melbourne, Australia, from March 3rd to 5th 2016.
The CIE has a proud history of over 100 years in the science and art of light and lighting; colour and vision; photobiology and image technology. With strong technical, scientific and cultural foundations, the CIE is an independent, non-profit organization that serves member countries on a voluntary basis and is recognized by ISO as an international standardisation body in its fields.
Lighting is responsible for around 20% of the total electricity use worldwide. With an increasing global focus on the need to reduce energy consumption, what better time to have a conference on the subject of lighting quality and energy efficiency? The conference will focus not just on quality lighting and energy efficient light sources, but also colour and visual perception; non-visual effects of lighting; testing and measurement; and other aspects of lighting technology and best-practice.
The coffee capital of Australia, Melbourne is a dynamic and vibrant city and you won’t be disappointed with the quality and wide variety of food choices available. It has the Royal Botanic Gardens and other beautiful gardens within a short walk of the city centre and also has a deep focus on arts, cultural and sporting activities.
We look forward to welcoming you to Australia and seeing you at the CIE 2016 Lighting Quality and Energy Efficiency Conference.
